As a mom, trying to be stylish and practical can be a fine line to draw. I am always one for style, but ever since I became a mom, I’ve always tried to merge style and practicality in one harmonious outfit. You just have to. It’s just a matter of finding the right balance of style and function. If you’re a mom and you can rock heels while pushing a stroller, then kudos to you. I, for one (although I’ve been known to run in my heels many moons ago),¬† cannot see the practicality of wearing heels while, pushing a stroller, especially for a long period of time

It was only a few years ago that there was a market for stylish moms. Usually, being a “stylish” mom was only afforded to the rich…until now. Thanks to celebrity moms, it’s now more common to see moms in Uggs, Sorels or Hunter rain boots. The latter 2 more practical than the first against weather conditions but still, Uggs provide warmth and comfort. Nevertheless, celebrity moms rockin’ some of these items has made theme popular and fashionable because of their practicality. It wasn’t in the last 5 years that they’ve become more accessible in the market. They are now more accessible in the market. Hunter boots or wellies as they are also called are my kind of footwear, nowadays. They are super practical and long lasting, yet fashionable –¬† perfect for the Winter/Spring transition when it’s too slushy or too warm out for the Uggs. For this reason, Hunter boots should be a staple in any Winnipeggers’ closet. Especially for the moms, soccer moms, moms who have little ones, any mom, really who have little time to worry about what shoes look great with what…Wellies are the new Uggs. Just throw them on and look fabulous!

The Hunter boot was originally manufactured for World War I to withstand the floods in the beginning of the 20th century. A total of over a million boots were produced for soldiers to cope with weather conditions during the war. And again in world War II, they were called upon to serve. These boots were and are so high functioning that the original green wellie, which I personally love was made as an orthopedic shoe more than 50 years ago. So, the Hunter boot not only promises fashion, functionality but also comfort – another bonus in my book. Today, there are loads of styles to choose from. Short, long winter, gardening¬† boots that come in a variety of colors. So, go ahead ladies and/or gents, get those boots dirty. They can take it. After all, they were made for war. And whether, you’re just going to the mall or feeding the ducks with the little ones at the duck pond, you’ll look cute and will be comfortable too!
