04/29/16 Last Thursday on April 21, we lost one of the world’s most brilliant musical artists – Prince. His famous songs like Purple Rain, Kiss, When Doves Cry and Rasberry Beret were often played even before his death at clubs. His music will forever live on because he was real. Pure, raw talent – a true musician to the core. For those who were hardcore Prince fans, they knew that this man was bigger than life. He transcended the genre, style and most importantly, a humanitarian at heart. I wish I saw him live. A big regret. I always thought I would, eventually. What I always admired about Prince, is that despite his 5’2 frame, doe – ish eyes, there was a sexiness to him. He could wear eyeliner and a ruffly shirt and still oozed sexiness. The man wore heels and yet, men love and respect him! He definitely owned his style. Not only that, he had swagger. I remember seeing him on “The View” and surprising the ladies with such swagger and confidence in his walk, the audience when nuts! He was a walking sexual contradiction, with his big, brown eyelined eyes and then he starts talking and […]
09/03/15 Just this past Sunday, I tuned in to watch the VMA’s just because I was curious to see what Miley Cyrus was wearing, or not wearing. From a fashion point of view, everything was an eyesoar, but I have to hand it to her…she’s pretty confident and she owns it. People will say that it’s for attention, which is probably true but that’s the name of the Hollywood game. It’s a doggy dog world and you have to fight your colleagues for attention and fame. That’s Hollywood reality. I was, of course, tuned in it to see what people were wearing and I came up with 3 outfits. 1) Vanessa Hudgens – Her gown was a dusty rose and she looked like a fairy princess with her hair braided like a crown on top with the added petals. I thought she looked perfectly styled because it matched her aura. 2) Emily Ratajkowski – What I liked about this look was that it was more original than the dresses that we are used to nowadays, the ones that show alot of side boob, deep cleavages and just doesn’t leave much to the imagination. Although this dress had a deep […]
Ever since I was a little girl, the jazz era of the 1920’s and 30’s has always intrigued me. For me, it was the fashion that enamoured me about the Jazz era. The luxuriousness and the glamour that represented the period was also reflected in the styles as in the flapper dress or the cloche hats. But it wasn’t until recently, specifically in the last year that I’ve become more appreciative in a central character of the 20’s: the music. To be honest, I have never been a huge fan of jazz. I grew up listening to hip hop and R&B. So, when I was asked to interview and write an article about Juno award winner and jazz vocalist, Brandi Disterheft, I was a little hesitant because of my lack of knowledge for contemporary jazz music. But, I decided to take on the challenge and explore further. From what I knew of the Jazz age, it was a time of liberation of expression through fashion, art as well as music. The spirit and energy of jazz music itself, was a force embodying the era. It was a significant character that defined the 20’s. Like the fashion, jazz was elaborate. It was […]
Alright, here it is people. Here are my favorite winners for best dressed at the Oscars.
Ok, I'm gonna make this quick. I really have to say something about the best and worst dressed on the red carpet at the Grammy's.
I am not a diehard fan of football. I usually just watch it for the halftime performances. And this year, the Black Eyed Peas were the lucky entertainers for Superbowl 45.
One thing that distinguishes holiday evening wear from other types of evening wear is the combination of color and sheen or glitter to them. Kind of like Christmas ornaments.
These celebrities are my favorites as far as being flawlessly stylish and original. They can really carry their outfits well and are always featured one of the Best Dressed on and off the Red Carpet.
