Maximizing your Closet…In with the New
05/24/15 Now that you’ve thrown out unwanted or outdated pieces, it’s time to see how we can work with what you already have in your closet. It could be that perfect fitting blazer you have or that favorite cashhmere sweater that you just can’t let go of. We can work around these pieces and create multiple outfits based around these favorite items. I call them “versatile” pieces or “investment” pieces, depending on how much you’ve spent on the items, quality and timelessness. It’s all about maximizing these items, and making them go a long way. With my help, I can help you channel your inner stylist and figure out how to create your own sense of style with pieces that you already know flatter your figure and expanding on that. For example, remember that perfect fitting blazer you have? These days, you can dress blazers up or down or from day to night. A tailored blazer can be worn casually with a pair of skinny jeans during the day or over a some basic trousers for the office. The below illustration, is a perfect example of how to wear a blazer 3 ways:   There really are no rules, as […]
Out with the old, in with the new…
02/03/15 A couple of weeks ago, I had a client who was a carpenter by trade. Good with his hands, but could care less about fashion. He came to me in a wooley sweater that was practically falling apart at the seams. So, his lovely wife contacted me for help. Ellen first contacted me about her husband who was often out of town on a work contract. They both enjoy going out to dinner and wanted to do more of that, now that she’s semi retired. But, she wanted him to be a little more polished when going out. Ellen described her hubby as 58 yo, 6’2, with a medium build. One of his issues was that it was a challenge looking for tops that were long enough for his torso. I met the couple for our appointment at George Richard’s Big and Tall because I figured that would be the safest place to find tops that had length. I was right. We found buttoned up dress shirts that were long enough and perfect for going out for a nice dinner. We found that he was a size L at George Richards, which can translate to XL at other retail […]
Love Compatibility? How about Style Compatibility?
Valentine's Day, Shmalentine's Day! Show love everyday! Honestly, as much as I say this day is for suckers, and just another day for capitalism to feed on the masses that fall prey to the commercialism of it all
Something for the Boys
12/8/08   Hey guys! Here’s a little somethin’ somethin’ for you. This look, I’ve always loved on a guy…very clean, yet boyish. The straight cut of the coat gives a slimming effect which makes it work for all men’s body types. The cut of the jeans and the darker wash help elongate the whole look when put together. This is a guy that tells me he cares about the way he looks but doesn’t take himself too seriously. He’s in that place, on the way to manhood.¬† The military style coat, gives a look of polish and sophistication while the cut of the jeans, is just baggy enough but not sloppy. This look works with or without¬† the hat and is perfect for this season. Add a scarf for extra drama. Very classic!
